Their serene retreat, featuring a curved bed, soft neutral palette and subtle illuminated wall detail, impressed the panel enough to put them firmly at the top of the leaderboard this week.
A Seamless Finish
The winning couple chose Pale Oak Woodmatt colourway across both doors and internals of their Freedom Wardrobes, creating what the judges called a seamless, enveloping finish. The Cosentino Eclos Tajnar island benchtop anchors the dressing room island while bronze‑look handles add tactile contrast and warmth to the cabinetry.
Skylights flood the space with natural light, preventing the cabinetry‑heavy room from feeling enclosed. Rather than simply lining the perimeter with cupboards, the layout makes the robe feel like a luxurious dressing room in its own right.
Accessories by Häfele include Cassetti Drawers, Flexi LEDs, Varano trouser rack, Varano tie and belt rack, Varano lift, Varano lift top and a folding mirror. They found little to criticize, noting that adding more could actually make the room worse. The architecture and cabinetry remain the clear heroes.

Adam and Jolene tied for second place with a sophisticated main suite earning 25 out of 30. Wall‑to‑wall pale timber cabinetry gives their walk‑in robe warmth while offering substantial storage, with a long stone‑topped island creating a luxurious dressing‑room feel. Open illuminated shelving at the end breaks up the cabinetry and gives the eye somewhere to land.
Chantel and Wyatt delivered a far more sophisticated response to the brief compared to earlier weeks. Their Freedom Wardrobe stretches along both sides of the room, with crisp profiles and elegant hardware creating an almost seamless wall of storage. They found the robe slightly clinical but praised the main bedroom’s soft neutral tones, curved architectural feature behind the bed and floor‑to‑ceiling curtains. Their high‑standard Venetian plaster also earned praise.

Rick and Tayla’s main bedroom immediately stands apart thanks to its soaring ceiling, herringbone timber flooring and strong curved details. The fireplace transforms the space into a genuine retreat. Full‑height Freedom Wardrobes cabinetry continues the timber story down both sides of the long dressing space. They praised the architectural elements but questioned some expensive choices and found the styling underwhelming against the scale of the room.
The judging panel noted that a few personal touches would help soften Chantel and Wyatt’s cabinetry, while Rick and Tayla’s bedside lighting and tables felt underwhelming. Adam and Jolene’s bedroom could lose a little styling given its beautiful architectural elements already in place.
A Costly Fireplace
Courtney and Sev entered the week with hopes of making Block history with a trifecta of room wins, but fireplace problems left them at the bottom of the leaderboard. After discovering bowed studs behind the fireplace wall, the pair had to pull apart framing, make repairs, replaster and attempt to prepare the surface for wallpaper while the clock kept ticking.
The fireplace caused delays.
They ultimately failed to make tools down in time. Their most cutting remark compared the bed to a “high‑end coffin.” Their walk‑in robe does offer abundant concealed storage, with cabinetry wrapping around the narrow dressing space and a dedicated vanity area tucked at the end, but unfinished details and lighting hurt them at judging. The robe needed a thorough clean before the panel arrived.
